For this project, the goal was to illustrate a broadside poem using pen and ink. The poem I chose was a poem called Red-Winged Blackbird. I wanted to highlight the relationship between the birds in the poem with the male blackbird on the left more prominent calling out to the female bird on the right. I used a variety of hatching methods to add texture within the wings, fur, and branches, and to also make my illustration look extremely realistic.
